Peninsula, Sion

When you have three restaurants in the same locality and only a few meter apart, you have to try it out. I took my pick and decided to visit the oldest one, the other two being the newer Peninsula Next and Central Peninsula. All three of which are located around Sion Circle.

The ambiance here was beautiful with soft music playing in the background and the service too was warm and friendly. We started our dinner with a round of mocktails – A Mojito – which is soda flavored mint and lemon and topped off with crushed ice, a fruit punch – which had a distinct mango flavor and a Barman’s Special which was a sweeter version of the fruit punch.

Later on the staff’s recommendation we tried out the Chicken Spicy Chili Rivering Soup which tasted as exotic as it sounds. A spicy blend of diced chicken, mushroom and loads of flavorful spices. Strongly recommended and worth a try.

We hence decided to stick to the staff’s recommendation for the rest of the evening and based on it we ordered their Malaysian Herb Chicken and Fish Tikka Platter as Starters. The Chicken dish was crispy and loaded with spices while the Fish Platter which consisted of Basa, Roghni and Kasoor was tender and mildly spiced.

For the main we tried something different, so we ordered the Chicken Pescador Cassia Rice, which was a Thai styled rice blended with Green Thai Curry and topped off with loads of Cheese and Chicken. However the strong flavor of the cheese made the dish a little overwhelming and heavy for our taste.

Finally it was time for the best part of any dinner service – Desserts! We ordered a Kulfi with Rabdi and Sizzling Brownie – which is a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream sitting on top of a large slice of Chocolate Brownie served on a hot plate. The best part is when the waiter doused this match made in heaven with chocolate sauce which begins to burn instantly when poured on the hotplate. The aroma of burnt chocolate is simply intoxicating.

P.s : If the menu confuses you, simply go with the staff’s recommended dishes.
