Kala Ghoda Cafe

Big delights do come in small packages, this holds true at least in the case of this tiny lil coffee shop. Almost hidden amidst the tiny by-lanes of Kala Ghoda, you will definitely miss this place if you are not looking closely.
My visit to this place was long due and well worth the wait. We were lucky enough to find a spot as we decided to visit this place on a Saturday evening during the Kala Ghoda Festival. We tried out their waffles, both Honey and Fruits and the one with Dark Belgian Chocolate sauce. Both were quite good, the dark chocolate sauce was to die for but I would still prefer the honey and fruits option. The only con being some of the fruits didn’t go well with the dish.

The service here was good and the ambiance was simple yet elegant. A must visit place for all coffee and dessert lovers.

Another good thing about this place is that they didn’t have a menu card which was the size of thesaurus like many Indian restaurants do. A small and well planned menu does reduce confusion and improve the dining experience.
Pros : Good food, good service and pleasant ambiance.

Cons : The choice fruits served with the waffles could have been better, papaya and honey didn’t go well together. Also the food could be a little heavy on your wallet.

P.s : In the evenings with dim lighting, the sofa on the top feels no less than heaven.

  • Location : Rope walk lane, Kala Ghoda, Fort.

  • Cuisine : Cafe food.

  • Cost for 2 : Rs 700 (approx)

Howra, Breach Candy

If you name your flagship dish after one of the best movies ever made, you have to make sure it lives up to the reputation and expectation.”The Godfather Burger” was the main reason for this place to be on my wish list.

Finally when i visited this place, we went straight for their so-called “Titan” burgers and ordered the “Big Daddy” and “The Godfather.” I remember the moment the “Big Daddy” burger arrived, it just filled me with excitement, it was the biggest burger I had ever e. But then came “The Godfather” with three large mutton patties, it was almost the size of my head.

The burgers were cooked well and had amazing flavors. Sadly it had way too many flavors which kind of ruined the overall taste. Individually the buns are soft and sweet, the onions were beautifully caramelized and cheese and mayonnaise were just perfect. But all together in such a large burger it was just a mess of flavors.

Size difference

Along with the burgers we also ordered onion rings and deep-fried oreos, the oreos very amazing but the onion rings were just soaked in oil and tasted like oil.

The ambiance is quite average but the service is good. Definitely a place worth a visit for burger lovers.

Pros : Lives up to the expectation of serving ginormous burgers, good fresh ingredients.

Cons : The wide range of flavors can confuse your taste buds, the oil can make you feel full with just a few bites, not the healthiest food option for those watching their weight and calories.

P.s : Order too many dishes and you will end up with takeaways.

Natural Ice Cream, Kurla

Do you love fresh fruits and ice cream ? Then you are in for a treat!. This place has the most amazing combination of fruits and ice cream that I have ever come across.

Absolutely loved their  rich, creamy and yet mild flavors. The service here is good, they let you try out their flavors before you finally select which one you would want to dig into and they recommend good flavors as well. At Rs.55 per scoop the value for money is good too compared to other ice cream chains who charge ridiculous amounts for a single scoop.
They always come up with new and amazing flavors and hence i never get bored visiting this place.
